2009 - Great Falls, VA
Kat and I took our new cameras (Canon G9 and G10, respectively)
out to Great Falls and put them through their paces. The shots below
have not been touched up afterwards, which I almost always end up
doing otherwise. But I took these with a variety of modes on the
camera, including completely automatic, landscape mode, and completely
manual. The results were nearly identical in all three cases, under
these lighting conditions. It shows how far the automatic modes have
come.

Automatic modes try to take a dark shot with so much backlighting.

Trying again with a manual shutter speed.

I should have done this one manually. The automatic modes tend
to come out dark when there's a lot of reflected light on
white details.
