Not being an eastern martial arts practitioner, I'm perhaps the
least qualified judge of what makes a good katana. However, the
eastern and western arts are more alike than different, and I
really like the feel of this sword. The slightly longer than
usual grip gives you a lot of leverage to work with, and keeps
it completely optional (you can still grip it further forward and
get more of an average katana feel). It's also a very visually
attractive piece, and I bought it on sale to replace my aging
Shinto Katana as the one functional katana I have on hand.
