2000 - Faire/Reenactment
During the NCRF AFR Invasion (North Carolina Renaissance festival, alt.fairs.renaissance invasion),
I was wenched! It's quite an experience, I must say. This shot shows some of
the marks that were placed upon me. I'm not sure which is more interesting- the
wenching itself, or the attention it gets you throughout the day. I received
quite a few comments, and tended to get noticed more. :)
Here's a shot from the same wenching, as I was being marked by
one lovely young lady by the name of Morgana.. Quite a nice
view she gave me, even without my optics. :)

Wolf and Bones, catching some shade.

Wolf and Darkchild, having a good day!

Look! It's the queen's privateer!! Not really, but I might as well
have been. You see, there is a 'game' of sorts at this faire, where
people get to follow a trail of clues and interact with multiple
characters. I seemed to fit the description given for the privateer,
so I was asked repeatedly if that's who I was. It was the leather hat
with the large feather that drew them to me. It's a shame that my
out-of-period sunglasses wasn't enough of a give away that I
wasn't on staff. :)

Here we see Wolf and Darkchild (Chuck and Dianna) in Ed Carpenter's
shop. He makes some really amazing wooden wall-hanging puzzle
art. An example is in the bottom center of the image, but doesn't
show the full extent of what he does. My favorite is his phoenix,
but he didn't have one on display that weekend.

We finally made it out to the Pittsburgh RenFest this year. It
was our first visit to this pleasant little faire. Here is a
shot I took during the joust, though I was a bit far away so
please forgive the fuzzy image (and yes, I already did some
image enhancements on it).

Norm and Bones, posing for the camera. I was "garbed down" for the impending
rain, but Norm was out in his full attire, complete with new breast and
back plates. Huzzah!
Danicia and White Dragon (Donna and Keith) getting silly for the camera
(with Keith being silly in a norman helm).. I seem to recall someone
making a comment about the "phallic symbol" that the normal helm could
be seen as... :)
Here's SilverWillow (aka Kat) after having been literally carried into
her surprise birthday party. It wasn't easy for us to get her there, but
I think it was well worth it.
Still feigning disapproval! :)
If I were quicker with the camera, this might have been a
somewhat naughtier shot. :)
White Dragon (aka Keith) acts on a dare, risking life and limb.
As seen here, he bestowed a rose upon Ann Bolyn, right in front
of the King.
Maybe he wasn't risking as much as had been thought. It
seemed to be received quite well. :)
It's good to be the king! (King Henry, at the Dragon Inn, MDRF)

An ambush! Oh my! They got me good.. Kat (aka SilverWillow, on the right)
and her sister Rie ordered me to my knees, and began to carefully
apply honey to my ears and fingers, and removed it in a most pleasant way.
It was completely unexpected, and blew me away! I found myself doing the
"picard maneuver" afterwards to make sure nothing would show.. Hehe :)
Soon afterwards, I began plotting my revenge (see below) :)
(names will be associated via the upper picture)
Kevin (rear right) and I decided to obtain 'revenge' upon Kat (aka Silverwillow)
for the ambushes we previously received. At the beginning, John (lower right) graciously
offered his knee for her. Once we got underway, the overwhelming torment of joy
and happiness, and worst of all... pleasure... were quite apparent in her face,
as you can clearly see. It's amazing what can be accomplished with roses, honey
sticks, and a little enthusiasm. In fact, we had her trembling. I'd say it was
quite successful! One good turn deserves another.
Muahahahahah!!! (in stereo) Muahahahahaha!!! :)

More of the return ambush. The picture immediately below is, I think, my
favorite of this batch. :)
The war continued...
First picture- Discord and Trouble, aka Elf and Silverwillow, plotting and
scheming.
The rest- Ambush in action! Yikes, never has losing a war been so
much fun. The impressive thing about this particular ambush was that it
was the diversion. The real 'attack' came the following day, and included
anonymous steamy poetic notes delivered with roses. Oh my, I lost
the war badly..... [grin] :)
Closing day at MDRF- "The Day of Wrong". Here we see Sir Ted de Bear, or rather
Bones (me) wearing the surcoat of the Order of Saint Theodore... Muahaha!!!
